Tamang Heritage Trail trek offers a peak at Himalayan life –style and culture. The trail takes you to verdant midlands of Nepal experiencing the beauty of the mountain region and the culture of the people who live here. The trail passes through the traditional Tamang village where fife culture and the local crafts have been remained unchanged since the beginning of the human settlement. Warm traditional welcome hosted by the locals, their elaborate costumes, rich architecture of their mountain houses, the ancient monasteries and places of prayer of course feel you really different experiences during this trek. In addition, this does not only provide the cultural experience but also offers wilderness experiences through beautiful landscapes of alpine terrain, flat meadows, and rhododendron forests.

The trail starts either from Dhunche or Syabrubesi and passes through Goljung, Gatlang, Chilime, Thuman, Timure, and Briddim. The trail may end back at Syabrubesi or follow the Langtang trek from Briddim village via Khamjim, Goljung and Gatlang are traditional Tamang villages. Goljung has an ancient monastery. From the viewpoint at Bahundanda near by one can see a panorama of Langtang, Kerung, and the Ganesh Himal, Sanjen Himal ranges. Gatlang sets high on a hillside among terraced field is a Tamang settlement. One can visit a Tamang monastery and the beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang. Bathing in the hot, healing waters of the natural spring at Tatopani en route from Gatlang to Chilime is an exhilarating at community –run home stay, while Nagthali in Thuman Village development community is surrounded by beautiful views of Himalayan ranges.

Program Itinerary (Short)

01: Arrival in Thribhuwan international airport receipt and transfer to hotel on Kathmandu.

02: Sightseeing Kathmandu valley evening trip brief on hotel Kathmandu.

03: Drive to Syabrubesi on Lodge (1460m) 8-10 hours

04: Trek to Gatlang (2338m) on Community lodge (6-7 hours)

05: Trek to Tatopani (2600m) on Lodge (5-6 hours) hot bath in the natural hot spring,

06: Trek to Thuman (2338m) on home stay, Thuman is popular for its shamanic performances and beautiful view of Langtang. Beautiful view of the mountains can be seen from every house in Thuman.

07: Trek to Timure (1762m) 4-5 hours) on Lodge, after lunch visit nearby historical fort at tibetain boarder,

08: Trek back to Bridim (2229m) Home stay, Brddim is a small and beautiful Tamang village. It offers Himalayan cultural experiences in the form of accommodation. Here visitors are accommodated as house guests and are able to have first- hand experiences of the age-old culture and hospitality of the Tamang community.

09: Trek back to Syabrubesi on Lodge (4-5 hours)

10: Drive back to Kathmandu on hotel

11: Free day at Kathmandu on hotel

12: Transfer to airport for your final departure!!!!!

During 13 trips to Nepal, my husband and I mostly did teahouse trekking without guides and porters, due to some bad experiences in the past. All that changed in 2012 when we asked Himal at visithimalayastrek.com to organise our 21 day teahouse trek in the Kachenjunga region. We wanted a guide who came from that area and spoke Tibetan. Himal himself proved to be calm, capable and exceptionally good at getting us into and out of remote places with a minimum of fuss. Likewise, our guide Mingma Bhote and porter Lakpa Bhote couldn’t have been more friendly, helpful, useful and able to deal with the unexpected. We enjoyed our Kachenjunga trek so much that we kept the same happy team for another 20 days. This time we did Manaslu and Tsum valley as a teahouse trek. Again, Mingma’s ability to speak Tibetan - and cook delicious food when necessary - was exceptionally useful. Both Mingma and Lakpa were only too pleased to help us learn some Nepali and Tibetan which added another dimension to our trip. I cannot recommend this company highly enough

Dear Himal and Team, Hope you are doing well. Thanks for great trekking arrangement.Excellent. Very professional organisation lead by Himal and a great guide in Hari. The organisation was awesome, couldn't have asked for more, and for a fraction of the price of using a UK/European based company. Hari (our guide) was also top class and reacted to situations as they occured (plane crashes, bad weather, altitude sickness). He looked after us a lot when in the mountains. I would recommmend Visit Himalaya Treks, Himal and Hari to anyone considering a trek in the Everest region. I don't have any experience of trekking with this company in other regions but i'm sure the service would be equally first class. Thanks very much to Hari and Himal for a awesome few weeks in Nepal.

My husband and I just returned from a month stay in Nepal, taking the 17-day trek to Everest Base Camp and an 8-day drive-in and fly out tour of Tibet. We have nothing but high praise for Himal and his staff for their attention to detail in arranging everything, providing wonderful guides to ensure we were successful in all our ventures, keeping us well informed, and the personal touch by having us to his home for a celebration dinner. Even with flight delays from Lukla they came through by using their clout to get us on an earlier flight or for sure we would have been stuck in Lukla for another day. Pasang, our trekking guide, did a wonderful job of educating us regarding the land, the people, and the majestic mountains. - Hi Himal, I really enjoyed my stay in Nepal. The nature is unbelievable beautiful. The trek absolutely is doable in those 12 days Jomsom Muktinath trek. Rajan is a very nice guy. He's doing his job very well, always takes care of me. Kabi is amazing carrying my luggage. I still don't know how he can do this. If he could speak a little better English then I'm sure he's a fun guy to have around. I can totally recommend Visit Himalaya Treks. We have just returned from 23 days (October 01-2011 to October 23-2011) on trek with Himal and his team, taking in both Dhaulagiri and Annapurna base camps. This was our third trek with Himal and it was every bit as special as the others. His organization, attention to detail and real care for his clients and the porters are excellent.
