Thame Mani Rimdu festival 2012 fixed departure

Mani Rimdu festival is celebrated at the monasteries of Tengboche, right after the full moon of October. The same festival celebrates right after the full moon of spring in Thame and Chiwang Monastery. The monks, with elaborate masks and costumes on, perform a series of ritualistic dances of the triumph of Buddhism over Bon, the ancient animistic religion of Tibet. On the first day of the festival, Lamas of the monastery pray in the courtyard.

The second day you can see the Lamas dancing with brocade gowns and wonderful painted paper-mouth masks. Hundreds of Sherpas from all over Khumbu attend the performance, as it is an important social occasion as well as an entertaining spectacle. Along with the serious and intricate dances the Lamas also dramatize two absurd comic sequences that make the entire performance a grand and amusing event. On the final evening of Mani Rimdu the villagers join in an all-night Sherpa dance. We have following trips of Kala Patthar-Everest Base Camp.

Program Itinerary (Short)

June 05: Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to Hotel O/N Kathmandu.

June 06: Day 2: Sight-seeing of Kathmandu: Full day’s sightseeing in Kathmandu valley includes the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath (2000 years old temple) and visit Patan city of fine arts. Return to the hotel.

June 07: Day 3: Flight from KTM – Lukla. Trek to Phakding (2,652m).

June 08: Day 4: Phakding to Namche (3,440m)- Beginning with a slight climb to Jhorsalle, the trail passes a waterfall. All day, we pass villages interspersed with magnificent forest- rhododendron, magniolia trees and giant firs. And on the way to walking you will be rewarded (weather permitting) your first glimpse of Kusum Kanggru (6369m) Thamserku (6608m) Everest (8848m) and Nuptse (7879 m). A steep climb up to the beautiful village of Namche bazaar (3440m).

June 09: Day 5: Acclimatization day in Namche. Acclimatization is most important before proceeding to a higher elevation. It is therefore recommended that you take a short days hike to Thame, Khunde or Khumjung or relax and explore the sherpa culture of Namche.

June 10: Day 6: Namche to Thame (3800m)

June 11: Day 7: Thame Mani Rimdu festival
June 12: Day 8: Thame mani rimdu festival
June 13: Day 9: Thame Mani Rimdu festival
(End Thame Mani Rimdu festival)

June 14: Day 10: Trek back to Namche

June 15: Day 11: Trek continue to Everest base camp or back to Lukla

June 16: Day 12: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel

June 17: Day 13: Kathmandu free day in Kathmandu On Hotel

June 18: Day 14: Final departure, transfer to airport

Excellent quality: the tourist guide and services were above expectations extremely friendly and very helpful. Chitwan National park tour, Very nice fun and very good guides, Accommodation were also very good, overall very nice and pleasant tour.

*We (my wife and me) have just done the 21 day Everest 3 High Pass trek,April 28th 2011 to May 19th 2011. The views were fantastic, clear skies and panoramic views of the Himalaya's. An especially perfect day when we crossed the Khongma –LaPass (5335m) which we enjoyed very much and we have to say thank you to Himal (owner of the Visit Himalaya Treks) and also our great guide Rajan and porter Tilachan who were both very supportive and professional throughout the whole trip. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how pleased Katie and I were with our trek of the Annapurna Circuit. “Thank you Himal” and your staff went out of your way from the very beginning to ensure that we had everything we needed to fully enjoy our trip. You presented all the information we needed in a very professional and easy to understand manor. You picked us up at the Airport and then made sure we were settled into our Hotel in Kathmandu before briefing us on what to expect for the next few days. Your \"city/cultural\" staff were very knowledgeable about the sites we visited in and around town and made sure we got to enjoy all the town has to offer. Before the trek our gear was inspected and checked to make sure we had everything necessary and we were introduced to our guide Rajan at a breifing the evening before we departed for our Trek. On the trek both our guide and porter did an amazing job of keeping us safe, informing us about things of geographical and cultural interest, and making sure we were having FUN ! I can\'t tell you how fortunate we felt having them with us.
