MOUNT KAILASH PILGRIMAGE TOURS AND TREKS.

Mount Kailas: (6,714 m) claimed to be the apex of the Hindu religious axis is also one of the highest mountain in western Tibet .For thousands of years the Kailash area has been held sacred by Hindus, Buddhists and followers of Bon (Tibet's indigenous religion). Pilgrims carry out devotional circumbulation (Parikarma) here. It is believed that just a single Parikarma around Mt. Kailash can remove your sins of a lifetime while 108 Parikarmas will achieve Salvation (Mukti).
In the descriptions of this numinous mountain, Hindus consider it to be the Lord Shiva's Throne. Lord Shiva sits in eternal paradise, the long strands of his matted hair falling and flowing all about him. The holy Ganges River is said to emanate from one of these strands.
Buddhists identify Kailash with the Mighty Mt. Sumeru, as the religious symbol to consciousness and enlightenment.
As per Bon religion Mt. Kailash is the soul of the country and assures perpetuity and protection On the other hand Lake Manasarovar at 14,950 feet (4,558 M) is said to be the highest fresh water lake in the world which is sprawled below Mt. Kailash. It is believed that a ritual bath will deliver a pilgrim to Brahma's paradise and a drink of its water relinquishes the sins of a hundred lifetimes.
Further, The Indus, Sutlej, Ganges and Yarlong Tsangpo (Brahmapppputra) rivers, all originate on and around Mt.Kailash.

To travel for days on this remote plateau with the chance encounters of nomads herding their sheep or yaks is to be transformed into another way of life, to see and become part of such a devout pilgrimage as shown by pilgrims around MT. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar is overwhelming and a life time experience.

Program Itinerary (Short)

1 ARRIVE LHASA
Fly Kathmandu, Chengdu or Beijing to Lhasa in Tibet. Hotel.
2-3 LHASA SIGHTSEEING
Visit Potala Palace, Norbulinka, Drepung & Sera monasteries, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Bazaar. Hotel.
4-5 GYANTSE - SHIGATSE - LHATSE
Drive to Gyantse via Yamdrok Lake and continue to Shigatse and Lhatse. Hotel in Gyantse. Guest House/Tent at Lhatse.
6-8 DRIVE SAGA - DONGBA - MANASAROVAR
Drive west over the Tibetan highlands following the great Zangpo river to Lake Manasarovar and Darchen situated below the Mount Kailash.
Guest houses or Tents.
9 LAKE MANASAROVAR
Rest and exploration day at Lake Manasarovar. Tents.
10-13 AROUND MOUNT KAILASH TREK
Drive to Darchen and start 3-day trek around Mt. Kailash crossing Droma La pass and visiting Drira Puk & Zuthulpuk cave temples. Tents.

14-18 DRIVE TO LHASA or KATHMANDU.
Return drive to Lhasa or along the Friendship Highway to Kathmandu. .
Tour ends with flight out of Lhasa or on reaching Kathmandu.

Kangchenjunga trek 2009 In one word it was fantastic. It was heavy but every step was worth it! Himal and his team are very skilled and can work well together. We had a great time with eachother and the journey was beautifull. I can recommend this to everybody to do this once in their life but ofcourse there is also a warning involved...when i fetched the photo's the other day, i got a feeling of homesickness that i thougt to myself that one time is not enough in such a beautifull place and a fantastic group of people. Dear "thinking about teaming up with Visit Himalaya Treks traveller".Since 1998 I have visited beautiful & exiting Nepal several times,always leaving with a strong desire to return as soon as I find a new chance! Nepal touched my heart completely, nature/climate, people, culture.In 2003 I learnt to know Himal Tamang, the company's MD. Besides cultural visits around Kathmandu, Chitwan Nat. Park in the south, also a wonderful group trekking experience to the area of Helambu, some hours by bus north of Kathmandu. Since then we always kept in contact for my next NEPAL EXPERIENCE! I'll tell you why.

This Helambu trekking was so well organized and pleasant, supporting/guiding us to finally pass 4600m' Laurabina Pass. We could enjoy the trekking, scenery and the social aspects to the most thanks to our Nepali supporting team!

Himal's professional, responsible, relaxed but serious and caring attitude towards all of us + his team of Sherpa's and porters was exactly what is important on a trekking in my view. Responding well to any small or major trouble on the way, being sensitive towards the group's interest and individual wishes. Not to mention his patience for the passionate birds & flower, photography lovers amongst us, which slowed the team down a bit...haha.

In 2005 I returned on my own and was so excited to visit Khumbu Valley, but weather conditions forced a change of plan. Pure flexibility on both sides brought us the next day to Annapurna Base Camp area for a 10 days trekking. With our mini-expedition of 3p I enjoyed a fantastic experience again.

A big plus is also his (local) knowledge after so many years of working in and outside Nepal. Plus the bridge that can be built by your leader, guides, porters with the locals you meet on the way.

So, my opinion: BOTH THUMBS UP FOR HIMAL AND HIS TEAM ! 100% trustworthy for everyone!

Last February we went on a 12 day long trekking with Himal to the Annapurna Base Camp. It was very nice! Every morning we felt like home because the took good care of us. Let us explain one thing: we are from the Netherlands and this country is below sealevel! Trekking therefore is sometimes quite a challenge! Luckely Himal and his crew were always possitive about our results of the day and they always helped us through the tough parts.

We would like to recommend Himal to all of you for all your trekkings and other expeditions in Nepal. Himal is a very kind and truthworthy man that will never abondon you in the wilderness.

I’ve done two trips with Himal. The first trip was the Everest Base Camp trek during March, 2004. The second trip was in March, 2009 when we attempted the Annapurna circuit. Both were excellent trips. There’s no better way to travel than with Himal. His organization skills and attention to detail, not to mention the first class service is second to none. In Nepal, this is critical, since you don’t want to waste precious vacation time. Himal is always in complete control. You don’t have to even think about logistics. After Himal meets you at the airport, the hard part is done. You can relax; you’re in good hands with Himal. I’m already thinking about my next trip with Himal.
