Everest Region

The Everest region boasts some of the world’s highest mountains such as the Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and beautiful Mt. Ama Dabalam. It is also the abode of the world famous mountaineers Sherpa people whose warm hospitality and inherent quality as mountain guides and porters have become living myths of the Himalayas. Its active and devout monasteries are the center of the Buddhist Lama culture and its festivals are many and colorful. In this region you will be into the heart of these giant massifs passing through colorful and beautiful Sherpa villages that each has something unique to offer you such as the Yeti’s skull and hands at Pangbuche or the Monastery located at the world’s highest point at Tyangbuche. And of course at every village you will be extended typical Sherpa hospitality.

We are very careful to plat your trek days so that you have time to rest and take in the view as well as to acclimatize to the high altitudes. This is most important to know as altitude sickness cannot only ruin your holidays but could sometimes prove fatal as well. In this region, most of the treks commence with flight to Lukla (2800 m), which is a small STOL airstrip (15000 feet length runway). The major trekking routes in the region are:

The mountains are more spectacular, the Ngozumpa Glacier is the largest in the Nepal Himalaya and from a ridge above Gokyo, and for 8000m peaks (Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu) are visible at once

Mani Rimdu Festival

The Mani Rimdu Festival is a colorful, noisy occasion that takes place in the most spectacular of settings. Performed by the monks of Chiwong and Tengboche monasteries, it depicts the victory of Buddhism over the ancient 'Bon' religion. The festival lasts for three days and is well attended by the Sherpa people who often trek for many days to witness this important event.

Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon Package

Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon 2010 event is open to all athletes , runners , extreme sport lovers and high altitude running enthusiasts regardless of caste, creed, country or religion. To take part, participants do not necessarily have to be runners or athletes . Even non-runners can do so. Friends and family of people taking part in the race can also apply, as non-runners.

Hinku Valley Trekking

The Hinku valley trekking including Mera Peak and Mingbo-la pass is quite difficult technically but it is popular to those people who have not long experience of climbing. The trail to Mera peak crosses huge forest of the various types of the rhododendron and other trees. It holds astonishing summit panorama including five of the world highest above 8000m peaks such as Kanchanjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Everest and Cho Oyu they are above then eight thousand of elevation.

EVEREST PANORAMA TREK

Everest Panorama Trek is an easier option than the full Everest trek with the highest point reached being the Buddhist monastery of Tengpoche (3867 meters). Tengpoche has the largest and most active monastery in the Khumbu and supports around 70 monks. Though the Everest valley Trek is shorter it certainly does not miss out on scenery, with panoramic views of all the Khumbu peaks including Everest itself.

GOKYO VALLEY TREK

A moderate trek, begins from Lukla, requires acclimatization for the first time experiencing people. Gokyo RI offers a super view of the Mt. Everest and other giant Himalayan peaks at all directions. Gokyo Lake is also a spot to be seen as one of the special gift of nature in the high altitude region.

Classic Everest Trek/ Jiri Everest base camp Trek

We commence our journey overland following the route of the first pioneers to Jiri a market town and the gateway to the Solu Kumbu region. The first few days are a push up through the beautiful alpine region of Solu on our way to the mountain air strip at Lukla. From Lukla we continue onwards amongst and alongside the regions famous inhabitants the legendary Sherpas.

Kangchenjunga trek 2009 In one word it was fantastic. It was heavy but every step was worth it! Himal and his team are very skilled and can work well together. We had a great time with eachother and the journey was beautifull. I can recommend this to everybody to do this once in their life but ofcourse there is also a warning involved...when i fetched the photo's the other day, i got a feeling of homesickness that i thougt to myself that one time is not enough in such a beautifull place and a fantastic group of people. Dear "thinking about teaming up with Visit Himalaya Treks traveller".Since 1998 I have visited beautiful & exiting Nepal several times,always leaving with a strong desire to return as soon as I find a new chance! Nepal touched my heart completely, nature/climate, people, culture.In 2003 I learnt to know Himal Tamang, the company's MD. Besides cultural visits around Kathmandu, Chitwan Nat. Park in the south, also a wonderful group trekking experience to the area of Helambu, some hours by bus north of Kathmandu. Since then we always kept in contact for my next NEPAL EXPERIENCE! I'll tell you why.

This Helambu trekking was so well organized and pleasant, supporting/guiding us to finally pass 4600m' Laurabina Pass. We could enjoy the trekking, scenery and the social aspects to the most thanks to our Nepali supporting team!

Himal's professional, responsible, relaxed but serious and caring attitude towards all of us + his team of Sherpa's and porters was exactly what is important on a trekking in my view. Responding well to any small or major trouble on the way, being sensitive towards the group's interest and individual wishes. Not to mention his patience for the passionate birds & flower, photography lovers amongst us, which slowed the team down a bit...haha.

In 2005 I returned on my own and was so excited to visit Khumbu Valley, but weather conditions forced a change of plan. Pure flexibility on both sides brought us the next day to Annapurna Base Camp area for a 10 days trekking. With our mini-expedition of 3p I enjoyed a fantastic experience again.

A big plus is also his (local) knowledge after so many years of working in and outside Nepal. Plus the bridge that can be built by your leader, guides, porters with the locals you meet on the way.

So, my opinion: BOTH THUMBS UP FOR HIMAL AND HIS TEAM ! 100% trustworthy for everyone!

Last February we went on a 12 day long trekking with Himal to the Annapurna Base Camp. It was very nice! Every morning we felt like home because the took good care of us. Let us explain one thing: we are from the Netherlands and this country is below sealevel! Trekking therefore is sometimes quite a challenge! Luckely Himal and his crew were always possitive about our results of the day and they always helped us through the tough parts.

We would like to recommend Himal to all of you for all your trekkings and other expeditions in Nepal. Himal is a very kind and truthworthy man that will never abondon you in the wilderness.

I’ve done two trips with Himal. The first trip was the Everest Base Camp trek during March, 2004. The second trip was in March, 2009 when we attempted the Annapurna circuit. Both were excellent trips. There’s no better way to travel than with Himal. His organization skills and attention to detail, not to mention the first class service is second to none. In Nepal, this is critical, since you don’t want to waste precious vacation time. Himal is always in complete control. You don’t have to even think about logistics. After Himal meets you at the airport, the hard part is done. You can relax; you’re in good hands with Himal. I’m already thinking about my next trip with Himal.
